A ceremonial donor in Abu Dhabi saves a Saudi child

A ceremonial donor in Abu Dhabi saved the lives of a seven -year -old Saudi child, by growing his heart for the child. The operation was successfully conducted in the “King Faisal Specialized Hospital” and the research center in Riyadh, and the heart that the deceased donated from Abu Dhabi to Riyadh was transferred in coordination between the “Hayat” program to donate and cultivate organs and human tissues in the Emirates, and the Saudi Center for Organ Transplantation. After the approval of the donor and the completion of the procedures. The success of the heart transplantation was not just a medical procedure, but rather a fruit for continuous coordination between the medical teams in the Emirates and Saudi Arabia, as part of human cooperation aimed at saving critical cases.

This cooperation included a precise series of medical and logistical arrangements, as it began with the process of removing the heart in Abu Dhabi, then the atmosphere of the heart to Riyadh, and ended with the preparation of the operating room to implement agriculture at a very sensitive timing, contributed to saving the life of the child who had no other treatment options.

This success is an extension of cross -border cooperation between the UAE and Saudi Arabia in organ transplantation, where King Faisal Specialist Hospital and the Research Center had previously carried out similar operations, which contributed to saving patients of all ages.

The child was suffering from an advanced heart failure as a result of a complex birth defect, with which various therapeutic interventions were exhausted, and included medicines, respiratory support and the cultivation of the cardiac system, without a response, which necessitated its inclusion on the urgent agriculture list.

Time is a decisive factor in the success of heart transplants. According to medical standards, the period between the heart eradication should not exceed five hours, to ensure the success of the process.
